Policy text

Constitution §2 principle 11: Pricing must be simple and honest. The Pricing Transparency Policy operationalizes that: visible prices, no hidden fees, plain-language explanations of Mission Funds contributions, no dark-pattern pricing tactics, and a published change log when prices move.

It applies to Map.ca’s product and commercial teams, partners offering paid surfaces on Map.ca, and any team that touches a paid flow.

Principles this policy enforces

  • Pricing must be simple and honest
  • Community benefit must survive scale

What it requires

  • Show the full price before the purchase step.
  • Explain Mission Funds contributions in plain language.

What it forbids

  • Do not add hidden fees at checkout.
  • Do not use dark patterns to obscure cost.
