Policy text

Developer Terms wrap the API Use Policy, the Scraping and Automated Access Policy, and the Data Licensing Policy into a single document that developers agree to before receiving credentials. They cover identity, acceptable use, security obligations, data-handling expectations, attribution, support expectations, and termination.

They apply to every developer with Map.ca API credentials, every integrator shipping Map.ca data into another product, and every partner-provided tool that touches Map.ca surfaces.

Principles this policy enforces

  • People own their presence
  • Collect less, protect more
  • Public data and personal data are not the same thing
  • Community benefit must survive scale

What it requires

  • Accept the Developer Terms before receiving API credentials.
  • Identify the operator of every integration.

What it forbids

  • Do not redistribute Map.ca data outside the Data Licensing Policy.
  • Do not bypass rate limits or terms via credential rotation.
